Organic Agriculture

The Organic Agriculture

The Friendship Farm garden was built around regenerative agriculture concepts focused on our homestead providing some of our own food, while being able to share, as well as eventually sell. Practising permaculture, and biodynamic agriculture methods brought to us by Farmer Brown Organics, the garden went through a transformation over the last year.

Still a work in progress, learning and adapting to the landscape and its challenges growing naturally, the farm is set on becoming a model for sustainable homesteading in Tobago that will be able to provide itself as much of its own resources as possible to cut down on external sources.

Bee Keeping

The Friendship Apiary has taken a more natural, sustainable approach to beekeeping. Considering what we do as more of a bee stewardship approach with the guidance of BeeWise Apiculture, the bees function as naturally as possible.

We don’t feed our bees sugar to produce honey… ever! Instead we allow them to keep a substantial amount of honey that they make as their food supply for the rainy season.
Our honey is never pasteurized to get rid of excess moisture, but instead the honey is left to fully ripen in the sealed combs that the bees fill the collected flower nectar and pollen in. This ensures a 100% natural quality product that we take pride in sharing.
